Manage and Track Twitter Campaigns with Marketing for Mavens

Today, we launched a new feature which allows you to manage and track your Twitter campaigns in Marketing for Mavens. Now you can post your tweets within the Marketing for Mavens application and have your links automatically tagged for tracking so you know which tweets referred the most people to your site and what resources they were interested in. Further, campaign promotions can be setup so that each person who responds through Twitter will see promotions that correspond to your posts.

How Do Twitter Campaigns Work?

First, go to the setting page and edit your account. Two new fields have been added for your twitter login and password. This is the Twitter account your Twitter Campaigns will post to.

Second, create a new campaign and select “twitter’ from the campaign type drop down box. Now, go into your new Twitter Campaign, you will be presented with a section called “Post Tweets” which contains two fields. One field for entering your 140 character Twitter post and a second for shortening and adding tracking code to your links.

Once you finish writing your tweet, simply click on the “Post to Twitter” button and your post will be submitted and tracked in real time.

Complete History of Twitter Posts

A complete history of all your Twitter posts can be seen from the campaign view. Each post has a visit total associated with it so you can see which posts drove the most visitors to your web site.

Who Did Twitter Send Our Way and What Did They Want?

Each visitor who comes to your web site from a Twitter Campaign is listed in the campaign view. Clicking on each visitor will give a complete history of what pages and resources they were interested in when they came to your web site.

How Do I Get Started?

Twitter Campaigns are available now as part of the free Marketing for Mavens beta. Sign up today and see how well your Twitter posts are driving people to your web site.

Internet Marketing Dashboard Changes

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Two new changes were made to the dashboard this morning to assist with daily web site monitoring.

The first change allows you to track all of your web marketing campaign activity in the daily dashboard. You can see how much activity there is for the current day and lifespan of the campaign as well as click into each to get a detailed analysis of how it’s performing.

The second change will help provide more accurate dashboard statistics. You may now remove citizen statistics from the dashboard results by going into the citizen profile page and checking the “ignore stats” check box that displays when you edit a citizen. This is useful for removing your profile and test accounts from the dashboard stats.

Web Marketers, How Well Do You Know Your Visitors?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Can your site anticipate the needs of your visitors? If not, you’re probably missing out on a lot of sales. When you visit a web site, would you prefer to stumble around looking for what you want (which most of us do) or would you like the site to evolve as you navigate through it, providing suggestions for what you’re looking for based on the previous content you’ve visited? Personally, I’d prefer the latter. Unfortunately, few web sites do this.

At Marketing for Mavens, our core purpose is to simplify web marketing management. Most of this focuses on making your life easier but we also want to focus on making your web visitors’ lives better. When we gather information on your visitors, we believe that it should be done in a win-win environment. You receive detailed information on what your visitors want and in return your visitors receive a personalized web experience that delivers the content and resources they need, in as few clicks as possible.

Remember, each person who comes to your site, comes with a purpose. The sooner you understand this purpose, the sooner you can begin building a relationship that can turn into a sale and blossom into a lifetime of service. Don’t expect your visitors to think like you do and find all of the information themselves. Evolve and personalize your site to your visitors and ensure they find what they’re looking for in as few clicks as possible.

Know your visitors, anticipate their needs, and deliver what they want.

On Second Thought, The Beta Lives On…

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

After much discussion, we have decided to continue the Marketing for Mavens beta indefinitely. There are a few reasons for this.

  1. There are many more features that we’d like to add and we want them to be part of the paid application on day 1.
  2. Campaign promotions have taken longer than anticipated to integrate into the Marketing for Mavens app. We want them to be available in the beta for thorough testing.
  3. There are a few features that aren’t as complete as we’d like them to be if this was a paid app. For example, the dashboard page recently had several changes made to it in the phase 1 launch but it won’t be until phase 2 that our complete vision becomes a reality.

It is for these reasons that we’ve decided to keep Marketing for Mavens as a free beta for all participants. More news will come over the next few months as we anticipate wrapping up the beta later this year.

Spring Brings the Official Launch of Marketing for Mavens

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

It’s been almost a year since the first lines of code were written for Marketing for Mavens and we’ve come a long way. The beta has been available since last July and we’ve made hundreds of improvements since then. Now we’re approaching the final stretch with a target release date of May 4th. That leaves about 6 more weeks of beta testing before we freeze the code for our go live date.

We’re very excited about moving Marketing for Mavens out of beta and very thankful for all the help and support our beta testers have given us. In return, all current beta testers will be given 3 free months of service when the site launches in May. If you haven’t joined the beta, you still have time to get in on the action and receive this offer. We’ll only be accepting beta testers through March 31st so you better hurry.

Now, as many of you are aware, we’ve not yet announced our pricing. It’s our goal to make our services as cost effective as possible while also allowing us to provide the high level of service and support that you expect. We’ll be rolling out the Marketing for Mavens service at a cost $47 per month. This will be available as a subscription service. For new users who join after May 4th, you’ll receive a 30 day trial so you can test our services on your site to be sure it will work effectively for you.

Thank you again for all your help and support and, as always, if you have any questions please send them directly to me at chris@marketingformavens.com.

Deliver More Leads without Spending More on Adwords and SEO

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

When it comes to generating more sales leads, web marketers will usually look for ways to bring in more traffic. Many will go straight to Google Adwords and bump up their daily spend. Others will start new SEO campaigns. What is often overlooked is the steady flow of visitors already coming to your web site.

These are the people you should focus your attention on especially if you’re working with a small budget or one that has remained flat or decreased over the past year. Each person who comes to your site opens up the opportunity to meet a new client or customer. To do so, your content, messages, and promotions should be built to match the needs of your visitors. This ensures that they feel welcome and shows that you know and really “get” what their problems and/or needs are.

In theory this sounds great but in practice it can be very overwhelming trying to learn what hundreds or thousands of visitors each month want from you. This brings us back to why web marketers generally focus more on the masses and work on pulling in “traffic”. I think it’s time that we move beyond the masses. Mass-everything is dying in this new world of one-to-one communication and micro-niches. This is why we’ve been working so hard on Marketing for Mavens. We want to find a better way to hypertarget individual visitors that is both beneficial to you and them.

We’ve found that the best way to do this is by managing all of your promotions, niche content, persona content, and offers together in one location and then, using an algorithm, analyze your visitors based on the pages they visit, and in real-time deliver the best content that matches their needs. This simplifies the process for you and makes it easier for your visitors to find the content they want.

While visitors are browsing your site, we are gathering information on the pages they go to, where they came in from, and the content they are viewing and building profiles of each person to better understand their needs. Now, when someone completes a form on your site, you can provide additional information to your sales team other than the one PDF that was viewed or product that was downloaded. You can show a complete history of all the PDF’s, videos, downloads, etc. which will help your sales team provide a higher level of service to your potential customers and clients. From a Marketing perspective, you’ll learn which content and promotions are most active, which pages are converting the most leads, and more importantly connecting and communicating directly with your customers.

Increase Sales Leads without Increasing Traffic

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Every person who visits your web site is a potential sales lead. Too many companies focus on the hard part which is increasing traffic each month to increase the number of leads they receive. Instead, focus on what you already have. If you have 1000 people visiting your site each day, your site should be focused on turning each one of these visitors in to a lead.

It’s simple math. If you have 1000 visitors per day and your conversion rate is 2%, your site is acquiring 20 leads per day. Now let’s say you focus your efforts on improving your marketing to your 1000 visitors per day by customizing your web site to each visitor’s specific needs. Not only does this improve the overall satisfaction of each of your visitors but it leads to a 4% conversion rate on your site. Now you receive 40 leads per day. Isn’t the much more likely to happen and easier to do then trying to double your daily traffic to receive the same number of leads? In the first instance, you have the control. In the other, you’re relying on outside help (search engines, advertising, etc.).

Next time you try to find new ways to increase your traffic, remember, the number of visitors doesn’t matter as much as how well you treat them when they come in. Focus on what matters most, the visitors who are already interested in what you have to offer.

The New Web Marketing Tribe: Helping Web Marketers Kick Ass

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Marketing for Mavens has been working on a spin-of site called WebMarketingTribe.com. One thing we’ve noticed over the years is a lack of a single resource for anything and everything related to corporate web marketing. We’ve decided to take some time to develop a site to cater to this community.

Like any community site, the breadth and depth of the content is up to you. Marketing for Mavens will be actively participating but the site won’t reach its full potential until other Web Marketers take part as well.

Our goal is to create a single resource that Web Marketers can go to not only learn about the latest news but also use as a reference to find the top historical information. In addition to news information, we’re also working on a resource section for tracking and rating all the tools related to our focus. We’re also looking at how we can better integrate RSS feeds, Twitter, and upcoming event information.

Please take some time to check out the site and let us know what you think.

Effective One-to-One Web Marketing

Monday, October 13th, 2008

When I talk about Marketing for Mavens, I’m often asked what the overall purpose is of the company. The easiest way to describe the it is “effective one-to-one web marketing”.

I describe it this way because over the years, web marketing is no longer effective. It has become a catch all bucket in many companies. Web Marketers are expected know how to code, design, advertise, optimize for search, analyze web reports, and gather sales leads. With all of this, we started to get away from the core purpose of web marketing which is to effectively communicate with our visitors.

Marketing for Mavens is working to change this. We realize you don’t have the time and resources to do effective one-to-one marketing on your web site. You probably have hundreds of people visiting your site every day. How do you stop and learn what each person wants and direct them to the content and promotions you offer that fulfills this want?

You do this by using Marketing for Mavens. We track what each individual is doing on your site. You simply give us the content you want to promote and we’ll make sure its displayed to the people who want to see it.

This is all done through the Marketing for Mavens web application. You select the areas on your web site where you want your targeted content, promotions, and offers to appear. Then add this content to Marketing for Mavens. Once added, we’ll automatically promote your content to your visitors based on their visitor history. The more pages they visit, the more accurately we can match your content to the needs of your visitors.

This is all done in real-time which makes your life much easier. Previously it would have been impossible for you to even think you could customize your web pages to each visitor. Now it’s as simple as entering your content into Marketing for Mavens and letting visitors actions determine what content they receive. You don’t need to worry about being all things to all people, hoping that one of promotions will eventually catch the attention of one of your visitors. Now you can make better use of the promotional spots on your site and be confident that your web site is communicating more effectively with each of your visitors.
