New Application Design

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Today, we unveiled a new site design that should help simplify the user interface. Some pages now use a 2-column view with the main content highlighted on the left and additional sub-information available on the right. We have more design changes that will be rolled out over the next few weeks which will further improve the UI.

The New Web Marketing Tribe: Helping Web Marketers Kick Ass

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Marketing for Mavens has been working on a spin-of site called WebMarketingTribe.com. One thing we’ve noticed over the years is a lack of a single resource for anything and everything related to corporate web marketing. We’ve decided to take some time to develop a site to cater to this community.

Like any community site, the breadth and depth of the content is up to you. Marketing for Mavens will be actively participating but the site won’t reach its full potential until other Web Marketers take part as well.

Our goal is to create a single resource that Web Marketers can go to not only learn about the latest news but also use as a reference to find the top historical information. In addition to news information, we’re also working on a resource section for tracking and rating all the tools related to our focus. We’re also looking at how we can better integrate RSS feeds, Twitter, and upcoming event information.

Please take some time to check out the site and let us know what you think.

Developing a Better Home Page

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Over the last few days, I’ve put a good deal of time into reconfiguring the home page. The previous design was very text heavy and the feedback I received revealed that it didn’t clearly explain the services provided by Marketing for Mavens.

It’s funny how you can be a web marketer for 10 years and still find yourself reverting to poor design practices. In this case, I’m far too close to the content then I’d prefer to be. I know how valuable Marketing for Mavens can be to a web marketer but when you’ve been so focused on developing the product for the last 6 months, what you consider to be a clear and concise explanation, turns out to be confusing to people who are learning about your services for the first time.

I still feel like the content needs to be revised further especially on the pages beyond the home page. I’ll be updating it over the next several days and will continue to listen to the feedback we’ve been receiving and update the site accordingly.
